Salzburg, Austria is a beautiful country. And exceptionally clean for a hygiene freak like me. I felt completely at ease in Salzburg. The air, fresh and crisp, the weather chilly but sunny. It was a lovely day for a bike right through town visiting the places Fräulein Maria filmed at in the Sound of Music.

Here the bike guy is setting up our bikes, checking the brakes and adjusting the seat height so that we do not kill ourselves at an intersection due to failed brakes and can reach our foot pedals to cycle properly.

Found out that these buildings were ‘dated’ at the top. They indicate the year it was constructed as well as the year refurbished.

Look familiar? This was where Maria and the children stood on the steps in the movie.

This was where Maria splashed some water from the fountain while singing. It’s also where the horses drank. But it was closed for the impending winter.

These are the famous gates of Captain Von Trapp’s house and his driveway.

This was where the famous song “You are sixteen, going on seventeen” was sung. It’s actually a lot smaller in real life.

These are the gates to the abbey where Maria stayed. The scene where the children went to visit her after she left the Von Trapp house was shot here.
