Berlin, the capital of Germany, where many movies were made and where part of the Berlin wall still stands as a reminder of the struggles the country went through. Steeped in history, it is a city filled with culture and many different ethnicities. However, one thing I noticed while I was there was that there is no such thing as an Australian-German, Latino-German, Italian-German, Chinese-German, etc. There is only, German. They are a really united people, regardless of skin colour. Something I marveled and respected about them.
Obviously feeling that we stood out as tourists, the locals thought we were, well… Locals, German. Many locals we encountered spoke to us in German, sincerely thinking that we were German. Unlike the French. The townsfolk we met were friendly and helpful when we had questions. I really enjoyed my time in Germany and it is definitely one of my favourite tourist destinations on a whole.
And of course, I loved the German cuisine and beer. Pork, pork, pork and pork! Bring it on! Also, their pastries, it’s to die for. I still dream of it and salivate over my photos of them.

We had an awesome time walking through the city and visiting the sites below.
The famous Brandenburg Gate.
Part of the Berlin wall that still stands. The entire length of the wall is painted over with brightly coloured murals, all depicting a part of Berlin’s history.
This is a cross-section of the wall. It’s really not that thick of a wall surprisingly.
The Jewish memorial site.
The massive Berlin train-station. There’s a shopping mall in that building with many many levels going underground.
The Berlin Tower!
This was just too cute! Saw it in the city. Look how tiny it is? It only fits one person and he exited the vehicle from the front. There’s only one door and it’s where you’d think the bonnet would be! Interesting indeed.
