A quick visit to Poenari Castle, which was the only structure built by Vlad Tepes, led us to encounter some furry friends.

One in particular escorted us all the way up to the castle. My very own personal bodyguard. I wish I could’ve brought this precious pooch home with me.

And here we stand atop Poenari Castle with a view of what is left of the fortress walls against the dense foliage, which we trudged up through to get here.
