Alba Iulia is a city located in Alba County, Transylvania, Romania. Here the main attraction of the quaint little town lies within the walls of the citadel in the middle of the city. We strolled down wide open walkways up to the windy hilltop where the entrance into the citadel sits. Within the citadel are interesting attractions such as the Reunification Cathedral, the Roman-Catholic Cathedral Saint Michael, the Cetatea Alba Carolina, the South Gate of the Roman Castrum, the Bastionul Sașilor which was beautiful and so serene to meander through, the Union Hall, the Apor Palace, Princely Palace, and the University of Alba Iulia.

The main entrance into the Citadel. Marvelous woodwork for the bridge and sculpting of the gate’s guardians.
The exterior walls of the Reunification Cathedral which was specifically built for the coronation of the King of Romania.
The lush well tended garden we passed through before we entered into the Reunification Cathedral.
Cute ornaments adorned the gardens in front of the Bastionul Sașilor.

A lovely rest house for weary tourists.
Here you can see the walls of the citadel and the bridge leading into the South Gate of the Roman Castrum.
Alba Iulia by night. If I’m not mistaken, this is the Union Hall.
