Trekking through the enchanting Turda Gorge, which is a natural reserve sitting on the Hășdate River.
The gorge was formed by the erosion of limestones of the mountain and is 2,900 meters long with the walls reaching 300 meters high.
It was a slippery trek and we had to move slowly. Even slower when I kept wanting to stop and take photos of everything I saw, because to me, everything was beautiful!
The air was fresh, the surroundings pristine, the water clear, and I can only imagine how cold it would be if I’d slipped and fallen in.
At the start of the trek, looks like someone got crushed by a falling boulder and his/her boots have been left there to forewarn others of the dangers of climbing through the canyon.
The river and the gorge.
Half-way down stream.
A friendly furry face greeted us at the end of our trek. And this is only a pup. It’s huge! Bred to be a sheepdog, I was told by his owner.
Below are more photos of the deep Turda Gorge.
