The land above the clouds. The Bucegi Mountains are part of the Southern Carpathians group of the Carpathian Mountains. The most popular attraction there would be the Sfinxul.
It is also so high above sea level that very little vegetation grows here. The highest point on this section of the mountain is 2,200 meters above sea level. A lot of people come up here for the fresh air and to go on long hikes while admiring the beauty of the Bucegi plains.
The clouds and fog covered the lowlands, and it was a very wet morning down at the foot of the mountain. Riding up on the cable car, we emerged through the clouds and it was such a vast difference up in the mountains. We could see for miles on end. No fog, and not the least bit rainy. The winds were chilly but the sun beating down on our backs was warm.
A view from the opposite side of the mountain top.
The famous Sfinxul natural rock formation.
And a view of the highest point of the mountain. Up on that gigantic boulder right at the top of this hill.
