One night we talked about heading to a place called Dolní Morava. Therein lies a village, in the Pardubice Region of the Czech Republic, that has less than 300 inhabitants. A very small and quaint town indeed. We did a search on “Things to do nearby” and stumbled upon an attraction in Dolní Morava called the Skywalk. Ergo, on impulse, we decided to make a day trip to Dolní Morava from Prague the very next day, hoping to climb the much raved about Skywalk.
Before the crack of dawn, we began our journey towards Dolní Morava in the hopes of climbing up the vertigo inducing structure. However, we were hugely disappointed to find out that they were in fact closed for the season (even though their website stated they would be open, but there was no point arguing with them). In short, the information on their website was inaccurate and there was little point to ask them about it as the staff at the equipment rental shop were far from friendly.

Considering that this is a tourist attraction, it was quite surprising that their disposition was so unwelcoming. We were not imposing on them or troubling them in any way, we just politely knocked on the front door, popped our head in, greeted them good morning and enquired as to whether the park was open and we received quite a frosty reply in return. Oh well.

Moving on, it was ultimately a bummer that we did not manage to visit the Skywalk as we traveled almost 3 hours from Prague for it.
But along the way, we passed by some serene little suburbs sitting on wide open plains that were too gorgeous for us to not stop and soak it all in for just a moment.

After our anti-climatic adventure to the Skywalk, we decided to head to a nearby town called Olomouc. Olomouc is a city in the eastern province of Moravia, which wasn’t too far from where we were. Just an hour and a half away. It’s known for its many baroque fountains and the 18th-century Holy Trinity Column, a monument adorned with religious sculptures. On Wenceslas Hill are the Gothic St. Wenceslas Cathedral and the Romanesque Bishop’s Palace. The Town Hall near the center was a former merchant’s house with vaulted rooms and an astronomical clock.
Below are photos taken around Olomouc.
