Ivalo is a quaint, idyllic village which sits along the Ivalo River in Lapland, northern Finland. It’s a short bus ride to Saariselkä, an arctic resort area to the south. Ivalo is a hiking haven and has trails and seasonal views of the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights). I had the pleasure of experiencing Ivalo with less than apt insulation and truly felt what it was like to get frost-nipped. An oddly, I enjoyed every minute of the freezing cold.

I was crouched down low in the snow for about an hour, waiting for the clouds to blow away so I could capture a shot of the millions of stars above us, with shoes that weren’t properly insulated, sunk deep into the snow. Never had my toes and feet felt that cold!
Below are shots taken around our chalet. Lovely accommodation.
This is definitely the place to visit for a yummy-licious meal! We went there multiple times during our stay in Finland. Such a rustic atmosphere with lovely decor and their local food is to dieeee for. Absolutely mouth-watering and I could not get enough of it.
