One of the attractions near Ivalo is the Wild Spirit Park. We got to interact with the many Alaskan Huskies which were very gentle. We also learned about how the locals use every part of a reindeer for food and clothing. We also got to see Arctic foxes and the Raccoon dogs. Something very unusual and terribly cute! We also had the chance to enter one of the Arctic foxes’ den and meet with them up close and personal. All the wild animals here were rescued from pelting. The huskies however, are pets and “employees” (haha) to the park owner and they are used as sled-dogs for tours when the snow is thick enough.
Below are photos taken at Wild Spirit Park.

Here are photos of the park’s interior where we visited the “homes” of the rescued Arctic Foxes and the Raccoon Dog (which are actually taken out for walks on a leash)
And here are the Arctic Foxes in their cosy dens.
This is one of the Warthogs kept at the park as pets by the owner. There are two of them and their names are Romeo & Juliet.

There’s a traditional little “house” in the middle of the park which the owner showed us and told us a few stories about the animals that were kept in the park.

Then we went to have a look at the sled-dogs, which were actually Alaskan Huskies and not like the usual Siberian Huskies many people attribute huskies to. They are beautiful animals and some have the most piercing blue eyes I have ever seen.

These are the new additions to the husky family.
