Experts say that the northern lights will be less active from 2017 onward for the next 10 years, and catching them may be close to impossible after 2017. So we headed to northern Finland to try and catch the ever elusive Aurora. From the first day we were in Finland, the weather was chilly and cloudy and we had no luck catching the northern lights. Getting more and more discouraged with each passing day, we prayed really hard for the weather to clear up and hopefully get to see the Aurora. Our prayers were answered because on the last night that we were in Finland, we managed to see the mesmerizing natural light show.
Standing for over two hours in minus 20 degrees (Celsius), I was freezing in the snow waiting to capture the lights and was happily rewarded for my patience. Below are a couple of shots I captured of the wondrous sight.
