Inviting Ionnina & a peek at Preveza (Greece)

As we moved through Greece, Ionnina is a charming little town that we just had to drop by. We made Ionnina our base for a few days while we traveled to nearby places of interest. Though Ionnina felt like a quaint idyllic town to us, it is in fact the capital and largest city in Epirus, in north-western Greece.

The highlight of Ionnina is the castle and the lake.

After visiting the castle, we took our time walking and driving around Ionnina.

On our way out from Ionnina we made it a point to stop by the Roman Aqueducts before heading to Preveza.

It wasn’t easy to find the aqueducts and a lot of research went into it. So we were ecstatic when we actually found it! Thanks to Google earth!

After our visit to the aqueducts we proceeded to Preveza. We visited the Archeological Site of Nikopolis where the theater sits and the Western Roman Wall Gate located nearby.

Below are photos of the sites.
