The time of year which we decided to visit the Bastei Bridge just happened to be a day too late for the bus to drop us right at the bridge’s entrance. After making our way from Berlin to Dresden by train, we hopped a bus that would get us to the closest drop-off point to Bastei, which puts us and the bridge about three kilometers apart. On our way we went, walking on the side of the road, it was a quiet day with very few cars. Minutes went by, and we moved into the forest, following signs, getting closer to our destination. Being surrounded by trees in fall put me in such a tranquil state, there’s nowhere else I’d rather be. I love the outdoors.
On the road via the number 11 bus (our legs) towards Bastei.
We were assured that we were on the right track.
Finally, we’ve arrived at our destination and this was the view from the bridge.
And here we have the stunning Bastei Bridge! So blessed to have good weather that day, though not particularly sunny, at least it did not rain.
At one of the peaks on the way down, which overlooks the Elbe river and Kurort Rathen town.
Passing through the idyllic little town of Kurort Rathen.
Below are more photos of our adventure into the mountain.
