As much as I was curious about visiting the infamous Sachsenhausen concentration camp, I was in a somber mood the day we went. Taking photos that day while listening to the guide tell us what went on at the camp was not a gleeful experience for me. I only took photos to document and commemorate our visit there. The things that went on at the camp were horrific and heinous. I shan’t go into details.
The entrance to the camp.
At the entrance gates, it says “Work sets you free”.
Art done by the residents of the camp.
This was where tortures were conducted. There were outlets on the tables for the blood to flow through.
This was where they burned, gassed, shot, poisoned – basically execute the prisoners when required. The prisoners would not be aware that they were going to be executed as the SS guards would tell them that they were going for a routine medical checkup or for a bath, which they so desperately looked forward to and deemed it a treat. But in reality, they were only lining up to be executed.
