Contemplative at the Church of St. James (Brno – Czech)
We made the short walk over to the Church of St. James after meandering through the centre of town. St. James’ church is a late Gothic three-nave church built in the middle of St. James’ square at the centre of Brno. It has a rich history which began in the early 13th century. The church was thus finally categorized as a national monument in 1995.
At the entrance into the church.
Here are photos of the interior of the church of the ground floor, simple yet beautiful in its own right.
A lovely work of art.
Bibles for the congregation.
Immensely high ceilings
A close-up of some of the symbols etched in the ceiling.
Intricate woodwork.
Ornate looking organs that still function can be seen on the balcony.
Uber vintage benches
Then we took a short tour of the balcony and went up the clock tower to view the old bells that still tolled.
View from the very narrow lookout from the clock tower.
